I would prefer an answer with some justification, other than just someone's opinion on their observations or thoughts. Like a website with rules and regulations b/c apparently some people that answered this question originally are living in 2005 and believe scalping is illegal still.
It actually depends on the city and state. Some cities have broker zones that allow other strictly prohibit it in any form. As far as sources go, the back pages of the book called "The Poor Man's Guide to Buying Scalper Tickets" has an appendix in the back with state by state details. I am trying to get tix to Cleveland Indians game but am from Detroit area. The game is July 29 in Cleveland, against Detroit. I cant seem to find a broker site, or any site (including ticketmaster) that doesn't charge outrageous fees. Is there any site that just charges tickets prices, and maybe a shipping charge only?
