I am heading to Japan from Australia and am wondering what the most economical way is for me to exchange my currency. Should i do it in Australia or wait till i get to Japan? Should i use ATM's or should i use a foreign exchange service? Your help would be great!
best way is wait to be in Japan, directly in to the airport you'll find exchange desk with no fee or a cheap one for cash,
ATM is always available for visa, american express and so on,
some time it's cheaper and faster to change some cash money.
i want to go to France for a year for foreign exchange, i known about programs such as afs, yfu, and interax(not sure about spelling). i was wondering what one is better and cheaper. and if there are any other programs that are better. thanks for your help, i have the 2 years of french in high school requirements. thanks for your help
AFS, YFU and Rotary International are the best. Rotary is the cheapest, but most competitive. I never recommend Intrax because they are affiliated with AYUSA, one of the programs with the most difficulties.
Edit: Sue gave a good answer but implied that host families are paid in programs OTHER than Rotary. This is not true. Host families in ALL CSIET certified programs are volunteer.
I am a senior at high school planning on traveling aboard to Argentina for 2 months. I am planning on participating in community service where can do one of the following:

Colleges have international study offices that offer exchange programs related to the field you are interested in so choose something in the medical field. Also the phones are locked so that they cannot be used outside the country, for that you will need to unlock it from the service provider once she wants to go back (but that applies only if the phone is a quad band).
